Lucy Ellen Fitzgerald, 89, of West Caldwell, NJ, formerly of Montclair, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. 

Lucy was born in New York City in April of 1936 to William F. and Lois F. (nee Robinson) Fitzgerald. She was a graduate of Smith College and earned her master's degree in library science from the University of Denver in Colorado. 

Lucy worked for the Montclair Public Library before retiring. She was very involved with the library during her life, as well as the Victorian Society and the Montclair Women’s Club. Lucy also enjoyed traveling and seeing new sights. She facilitated international exchange groups between Montclair and England. Lucy loved spending time with family and did extensive research on her maternal and paternal family backgrounds.

She is survived by her cousins, Terri N. Matson of Richmond, VA; Martin A. Nickel of Richmond, VA; Mary F. Fitzgerald of Boston, MA; William F. Fitzgerald and his family of Plymouth, MA; and Karen Alley of Knoxville, TN.
