Virginia (Castelluccio) Hill, 90, a long-time resident of Roseland, NJ, died Sunday morning, October 19, 2025, after a long illness.
Born in Newark, NJ, to Lucy (Fuino) and Charles Castelluccio, she was the valedictorian of her graduating classes at Irvington High School and Montclair State University (also earning a master's degree from the latter in mathematics education). She taught mathematics at Bloomfield High School for 35 years, serving for many years as Chairman of the Mathematics Department there.
She loved reading (books of all kinds, but especially mystery novels), music (especially Angelo Bocelli and Luciano Pavarotti), travel (to Italy, England, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria, among other places), and all aspects of Italian culture (including food).
Most of all, however, she loved her family, who were profoundly blessed to have her in their lives as the most dedicated, caring, and devoted of wives, mothers, and grandmothers.
She is survived by Edward Hill, her beloved husband of 62 years, who cared for her tirelessly and lovingly throughout her long and difficult final illness. She is also survived by her beloved son and grandson, Charles Hill and Harrison Hill, of Gig Harbor, WA; her daughter-in-law, Ann Gramson, also of Gig Harbor; her sister and brother-in-law, Maggie Hill and Albert Heineman of Bridgewater, NJ; and her niece, Loren Loring, of Union, NJ. She was very deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Monday, October 27th from 10:00 – 11:00am at Codey Funeral Home of Caldwell, followed by a prayer service. She will be laid to rest at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union afterwards.
Arrangements were provided by Codey Funeral Home. To share condolences or memories with the family, please visit CodeyFuneralHome.com.
