Loretta Rodriguez Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Loretta Rodriguez on Sunday, October 19, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. She was 81 years old.

Born in Queens, New York on October 15, 1944, she was the daughter of Peter and Helen (Tencza) Martin.  Loretta grew up with her three sisters and brother in Blissville (Long Island City), NY.

Loretta was a shining light in the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her.  Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends and many others whose lives were touched by her.  They will miss Loretta’s eternal optimism, infectious enthusiasm and vibrant spirit.  She had an unwavering commitment to spread happiness, usually with a hand-picked emoji.   Those close to her will miss her early morning holiday texts and pre-birthday calls, as well as her boundless strength and selflessness for family.

Loretta had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities and lived by her 4 “F’s”:  Family, Friends, Food and Fun.  She enjoyed simple joyful pleasures such as her morning coffee, her evening Chardonnay, her butter (“real” butter) and spending any chance she had with her children and grandchildren.  She never missed a chance to attend one of her grandchildren’s sporting events and was always amongst the most enthusiastic cheerleaders.  Although Loretta’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us.

She was predeceased by her cherished son, Robert Rodriguez; her sisters, Dorothy Toback and Anna May Bruno; her brother-in-law, Lawrence Bruno; and her brother, Peter Martin.

Loretta is survived by her children, Renee Codey and her husband, Donald; her son, Michael Rodriguez and his wife, Lynn; and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Rodriguez; her grandchildren, Jamie (Jack), Erik (Tori), Peter (Brittany), Michael (Samantha), Audrey, Matthew,  Angelina, Olivia, and Gabriella; her great-grandchildren, Danny, Jace, and Sofia; as well as her sister, Patricia DiCarlo; her sister-in-law, Yolanda O’Connor; many wonderful nieces and nephews, and an abundance of amazing friends.

The family would like to acknowledge and extend their gratitude to Homeside Hospice (NJ) for their remarkable dedication, friendship and steadfast care of Loretta.

A Memorial Service honoring Loretta will be held on Sunday, November 16th from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Codey Funeral Home of Caldwell. To share condolences or memories, please visit CodeyFuneralHome.com.
