Christopher Cross Hunt, 61, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 4:00 pm in Morristown, New Jersey.

Born in July 1965 in East Orange, Chris was the son of Peter Cross Hunt and Claire (nee Geffinger) Hunt. He grew up in East Orange, where he lived for many years before moving to Livingston in 2016 and later to Mendham Township.

Chris found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved going to the movies and was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. Chris was the life of the party, never missing an opportunity to sing, dance, and make those around him smile. Summer camp held a special place in his heart, where he made lasting memories and became a fantastic swimmer. He always looked forward to enjoying a Big Mac from McDonald’s, and his father would search high and low to find Chris’ beloved black & white cookies.

At the age of seven, Chris proudly became a big brother to his sister, Deborah—a role he embraced with love and devotion throughout his life. Despite the differences that came with Chris’s Down syndrome, he never questioned the different paths that he and Debbie followed. The life Chris lived was normal to him, just as Debbie’s life was normal to her. Their bond remained strong through the years and was built on unconditional love, mutual respect, and countless cherished memories. Once Debbie married and started a family, Chris so enjoyed spending time at her house, where he played Wii Bowling with Chase and Ryder. This always led to shenanigans and much laughter. Their dog, Kairo was dear to Chris’ heart, and he always asked about him.

While a young man, Chris worked at Happy Days in East Orange. He loved to come home and share stories of what had gone on each day. Chris became quite the ladies’ man, always charming and flirting with the women around him with his infectious smile and warm personality. His joyful spirit, kind heart, and ability to make others laugh left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Chris was predeceased by his beloved mother, Claire. He is survived by his devoted father, Peter; his loving sister, Deborah Korczukowski, and her husband, Joseph; his cherished niece and nephews, Ashley, Joseph, Chase, and Ryder; and his uncle, Colonel Allen Hunt.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Codey Funeral Home of Caldwell. The burial will take place on Friday, July 24th at 2:00pm in Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover.
