The Codey Funeral Home is the best funeral home in Essex County. Here’s why.
The Codey Funeral Home of Caldwell prides itself on delivering industry-leading service to families who come to us in their time of need. In 2022, we again proved why Codey is the best funeral home in Essex County.
As part of our follow-up with families throughout the year, we send an aftercare survey. In 2022, every family that responded said they would recommend Codey Funeral Home to others in need.
The Codey & Mackey Funeral Home of Boonton also earned a perfect feedback score from families. Both funeral homes are owned by Richard J. Codey, the longest serving member of the New Jersey Legislature, the state’s 53rd governor and a third-generation funeral director.
“We are grateful to the families we serve. When we sit with a family, we treat them like we’re sitting with someone in our own family. We do this with caring, personal service and attention to detail in everything we do,” Codey said. “The team at Codey Funeral Home, starting with Kelly Carey, our office manager, does this day in and day out for our families.”
2022 survey feedback includes these statements:
“Outstanding. Thank you for providing exceptional service. A++”
“Everyone at Codey Funeral Home in Caldwell was very professional and considerate. The way they supported us during this difficult time was appreciated by our family. I want to make special mention of Kelly, who answered every question promptly and helped us with several special arrangements.”
“We can't thank you all enough for getting us through this difficult time.”
And there was one family’s comment that really stood out. We received this in December.
“This has long been a family business (70+ years). While locations may have moved (Orange, Caldwell, Boonton), the care, compassion and services offered have remained the same. Attention to details, honoring wishes, making suggestions for basics and personalization when you are having a hard time thinking of what you need and may have forgotten. A scarf, a dab of perfume, as many pictures as you want arranged. Gentlemen, and I mean gentlemen, who come to bring your loved one (my mom) to the funeral home. Dignified, respectful, careful, human. It was a beautiful send-off on so many levels.”
This is what we do every day for families.
Codey Funeral Home traces its Essex County roots back more than a century, with the family’s first funeral home in Orange. Serving our communities for three generations is just one way we are different from so many of our peers.
