Joseph Rolli Beloved father, grandfather and musician Joseph Rolli, 88, died peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2015, from a brief illness. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell, NJ 07006 on Thursday, July 23, 2015 from 5 – 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, 219 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell, NJ on Friday, July 24, 2015 at 10:00 am. Born in Brockton, MA, the Rolli Family relocated to Orange, New Jersey where Joseph graduated from Orange High School and then attended the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. He subsequently enlisted in the US Navy. Joseph raised his family in West Orange and ran a neighborhood grocery and butcher shop known as "Rolli's Market" for 35 years with his brother, the late, Anthony Rolli. Joe and his wife, Dorothy, retired to Holiday City in Toms River where Joe served as a volunteer for many years at Community Medical Center. At the hospital, he was known as "the Candy Man" for giving co-workers their favorite kinds of candy. Joe was a talented musician who loved playing the clarinet for patients and staff alike to lift their spirits during the holidays. In the addition to his passion for his family he enjoyed golf, playing cards with friends and rooting for the Giants. Joseph was predeceased by his loving wife of 42 years, Dorothy (Fagan). He is survived by his three loving daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Jo Codey, former First Lady of New Jersey and her husband, Richard, former Governor of New Jersey; Susan McGarrity and her husband, Brian; Carol Arensman and her husband, Keith. He is also survived by his devoted son, Joseph Rolli, Jr., former Roseland Councilman and his wife, Carol Ann. Joe leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Kevin and Christopher Codey, Brian and Matthew McGarrity, Lindsay Arensman, and Joseph and Samantha Rolli. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Codey Fund for Mental Health, 300 Executive Drive, West Orange, NJ 07052 (www.codeyfund.org) would be appreciated.
