Honore Nowicki (nee Fitzgibbon) passed from this life on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 92. Until retiring, Nora lived much of her life in the same family home in the Brookdale section of Bloom?eld where she was born and raised.
She loved the shore and sharing her summer home in Bay Head with family and friends. After retiring, Nora and her late husband, John. V. Nowicki moved to West Point Island in Lavalette. She loved gardening and cooking for all the friends and family that gathered at her home.
Just after her 90th birthday she moved to "The Gables" in Brick. Declining health necessitated relocating to Green Hill Nursing home in West Orange, NJ.
Nora attended Sacred Heart School. After graduating from Immaculate Conception HS, she worked for the American Brass Company.
She was married for 51 years to John V. Nowicki. After her children were in High School Nora served for 25 years as Director of Volunteers at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, retiring in 1986.
Nora leaves behind her daughter Nola Crawford and son-in-law Jim Crawford of Little Egg Harbor, her son Dr. Noel Nowicki of Roseland, her grandchildren Timothy Crawford and his wife Julie Crawford of Portland OR, and Rev. Malia Crawford and her wife Amy LaVertu of Arlington MA. She has three great-grandchildren: James and Rose Crawford and Isaiah LaVertu-Crawford. She is survived by her brother William Fitzgibbon of Prescott AZ and her sister Margaret Boyd of Sun Lakes AZ. as well as nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 220 E. Main Street (US 9), Tuckerton, NJ on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 11:00 am. Arrangements are in care of the Codey & Jones Funeral Home of Caldwell, NJ. To extend condolences or share a memory please visit codeyjonesfh.com.
