Shirley E.L. Gottilla Devoted Wife and Mother Shirley E. L. Gottilla of West Caldwell, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on her 90th birthday, Tuesday, November 3, 2015. Relatives and friends are invited for a memorial visitation at the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell, NJ (973-226-6696) on Friday, November 6th from 6 – 8 pm. Born in Meriden, CT to her parents, Samuel and Esther Landow, Shirley was raised in Wallingford, CT before moving to New Jersey in 1948. She has lived in West Caldwell since 1957. She was a Registered Nurse, studying at Mount Sinai Medical Center, and worked as a Chemist at American Cyanamid during WWII, where she met the love of her life. She later worked in a doctor's office as a Nurse and Lab Technician before retiring to raise her family. Shirley dedicated her life to helping others less fortunate. She was involved with animal rescue for many years, as well as organizations for developmentally disabled adults. Surviving are her devoted children, Susan Fahy and her husband Mark, and Roy Gottilla; and a dear step-grandson, Steven. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, a sister and four brothers. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ARC of Essex County, 123 Naylon Avenue, Livingston NJ 07039 would be deeply appreciated.
