Philip F. Pepe Sports Writer and Broadcaster Philip F. Pepe, 80, of Englewood, NJ, passed away on December 14, 2015 at home. Family and friends are invited to visit at the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell NJ on Thursday, December 17th, 2015 from 4 – 8 pm. A Service of Resurrection and Remembrance will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 271 Roseland Avenue, Essex Fells, NJ 07021 on Friday, December 18th at 11:00 am. The interment will be private. To extend condolences or share a memory, please visit www.codeyjonesfh.com. Phil was born in Manhattan, NY and lived in Montvale and Upper Saddle River before moving to Englewood in 1988. Mr. Pepe proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. Phil graduated from St. Johns University in 1956 with a bachelor degree in journalism. To say that Phil enjoyed his career would be an understatement; he loved his career in sports writing and broadcasting with the NY Daily News, CBS-FM and the Baseball Writers Association of America. In addition he authored over 60 books. Surviving Phil are his devoted children and their spouses, Jayne and Steven Platts, David and Maria Pepe, James Pepe, John and Sherry Pepe; and 5 cherished grandchildren, Rachel and Joshua Peckman, David, Jr., Nicole and Victoria Pepe; loving siblings, Paul, John and Carol Pepe. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Lillian Pepe and his brother, Michael Pepe. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Phil Pepe Memorial Fund would be appreciated.
