I realize that this condolence is coming so late, but we just read it on the West Orange patch yesterday. I met Don and Marty many years ago when I became a member of the Mountain Club when I lived in West Orange along with a great bunch of guys back at that time. We live in South Florida now but will always remember those happy days up there and those times at Pals and the friendship of the Horn Boys. RIP Don.

Don was a recent friend over the past few years we met through close friend Bruce Byrne and spent hours talking about Custer and the Amelia Earhart controversy . He was gracious and extremely interesting.I saw him last year at an event I was attending at the Mayfair Farms we talked about Custer and his daughter he lost and how much he missed and loved her.
He was such a nice guy.

So sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad . I only knew him as "Donny" because that is how my Dad , Bob Peacock always called him. We Peacock kids heard so many stories of the glory days at West Orange High School- especially football games, and many fun times with friends, during our lives. They had a very close friendship that withstood the test of time, and I know my Dad treasured it dearly. our Dad always spoke of their antics with a twinkle in his eye ! Their memories have become part of our legacy. I hope they are having a laugh about one of the football games up in heaven together. Your Dad was a true example of what a good father should be. God bless all of the Horn family.

Our condolences go out to all of Don's family and those close friends that loved him as if he was family. To know Don was to love him.
We knew Don through his love of history. We tramped across a number of Battlefields together and our respect for Don grew with each time we saw him again.
Yes, this world was a better place because Donald Horn walked the face of the earth, there is no greater way to judge a person's life than that. Good work and good eternal life to you my friend we will miss you on an ongoing basis.
