George W. Denny Retired Newark Police Officer World War II Navy Veteran George W. Denny, 89, of Caldwell, NJ, formerly of Newark, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Sunrise of West Essex. Visitation will be at the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell on Thursday, March 10th from 4-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, 219 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell on Friday, March 11th at 10:00 am. The interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. Born in Newark, NJ to George A. and Margaret Denny, George lived most of his life in Newark before moving to Caldwell in 1981. Mr. Denny was a Veteran of World War II where he proudly served in the US Navy. After serving his country he then served as a Newark Police Officer for 27 years, retiring in 1979. George was a member of FOP Newark Lodge 12 and the Retired Police & Firemen's Association of Essex County. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marilyn (Castleton) and daughter, Kathleen. Surviving are his devoted daughters, Maryann Wichman, Noreen McCormick and Patricia Koch; also 7 cherished grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory to Grace Hospice, 105 Fieldcrest Ave., Suite 402, Edison, NJ 08837 would be deeply appreciated.
