Obituary of Irene V. Carroll

Irene V. Carroll (Persa), of Phoenix, AZ, formerly of New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014. She was 87 years old. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell, NJ (973-226-6696) on Thursday, January 30th from 4 pm to 8 pm. A Mass of Catholic/Christian Burial will be held in St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Caldwell on Friday, January 31st at 10:00 am. The interment with her predeceased husband will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. Irene was born in Jersey City, NJ and lived in several communities in New Jersey including Denville, Roseland, Forked River and Galloway Twp., before relocating to to Arizona. She was predeceased by her husband, James Carroll, Jr. former President and Business Manager of Laborer's Local 472. Surviving are her three devoted children, and their spouses, Robert and Roseann Carroll, James and J. Candace Carroll, Denise L. Carroll and Mark Ciafullo; also 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Irene was also predeceased by her sister Delores Bruning, also of Jersey City, NJ. She will also be missed by many other relatives, neighbors and friends. Irene was most proud of her steadfast commitment to educate all of her family and particularly the fact that her three children dedicated their early professional years to public service as successful governmental attorneys in New Jersey and who later went into successful private practice owning their own firms in New Jersey and Arizona.
