Dedicated Her Life to The Newark Museum Dorothy McNally, 99, of West Orange, NJ, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016. A Memorial Mass will be offered on Tuesday, August 9, 2017 at 10:00am in Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church, 1 Eagle Rock Avenue, West Orange, NJ. Born in Orange, NJ she lived in West Orange for most of her life. Mrs. McNally was a member of the staff of The Newark Museum since 1936 until she retired in 1982. An assistant in charge of museum operations, Mrs. McNally was responsible for personnel and for buildings and grounds. She also served as assistant secretary to the board of trustees, helped in the preparation of city and state budgets and initiated and administered requests for Capital Projects from the City of Newark. Projects completed under her guidance included restoration of the exterior Ballantine House, a newly-installed passenger elevator, the first in the museum's 55 year history and many necessary repairs to the facilities. In 1990, the bronze and gold "Medal for Meritorious Services" representing the most prestigious award the Museum can bestow was awarded to Mrs. McNally for her contributions to the Museum. Although she officially retired in 1982, Mrs. McNally continued her active interest in the Museum until her death. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
