Wilma V. Archibald (VanderMay), 91, of Cedar Grove, N.J. and North Palm Beach, FL., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Monday December 19, 2016. Mrs. Archibald was raised in Little Falls, N.J and was a long time resident of North Caldwell and Essex Fells, N.J. She graduated from Douglas College in 1946 and was a home economics teacher before starting her family and dedicating her life to raising her children. A devoted mother and loving wife, Wilma will be remembered as a beautiful person and a gracious lady. She was a loyal and true friend to everyone and put others before herself. In spite of her physical challenges, she was always positive and chose to be happy. Her strength and dedication to her family was an inspiration. She loved to cook and sew and enjoyed entertaining with her many friends. She also loved sports and could be seen religiously watching the Yankees and Giants. Wilma is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Robert. Also surviving are her children, Leslie (Steve) Owen of Westwood, MA; two sons, Loren (Sally) Archibald of North Palm Beach, FL, and Brian (Jeannine) Archibald of Caldwell, N.J; three granddaughters, Kelly, Janice (Adam) and Emily; five grandsons, Stephen (Casey), Christopher (Lindsey), Robert, Craig and Peter; three great granddaughters, Blair, Lane and Logan; one great grandson, Cameron; a sister, Marilyn Ostendorf; and two brothers, Raymond and Ralph VanderMay. She was predeceased by her brother, George VanderMay. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 4-7 pm at the Codey Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell, NJ. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 am in the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell, 326 Bloomfield Avenue. The interment is private.
