To Mary Jean and the entire McLaughlin family:
Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. Through my former work as an editorial assistant and staff writer at the Item of Millburn and Short Hills newspaper, John will always hold a special place in my heart.
I truly enjoyed collaborating with him and Sharon Austin to write articles with photos to promote the latest news from the njww2 book club, featured monthly guest speakers, and John's many accomplishments. I will especially remember the fun holiday parties at PAL's Cabin.
What a kind, generous, intelligent and well organized gentlemen he was to work with. He will be truly missed.
Sincerely,
Tonya Johnson

I had the privilege of writing a review for Amazon for his book on Albert Wedemyer. I loved the book. John and his family reached out to me and thanked me. I treasured the brief interaction and have followed the website and the videos ever since. When I retired I tried to pursue a masters in history at Ohio State and got nowhere. I was sort of in awe that he had gotten a master's degree but had no idea about the rest of his academic accomplishments. His life was one of incredible service to his country both in the military and civil society and to his family. What a great legacy. He is in heaven in God's embrace now.
How fitting to ask for support be given to West Point.
Our deepest condolences

To the Family of John McLaughlin
Please accept my sincere condolences. I have taken comfort knowing that God . . . will wipe all tears from their eyes, and there will be no more death, suffering, crying, or pain.”—Revelation 21:3, 4 The Bible, however, holds out a much different hope. God, who started mankind off in a lovely garden, has promised to restore Paradise on this earth under the rule of His heavenly Kingdom in the hands of the now glorified Jesus Christ. ( Matthew 6:10; “ Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth” ) In that restored Paradise, the human family will have the prospect of enjoying life without end, free from all sickness and disease
Sincerely,
Roberta

To Mary Jean and the McLaughljn children and grandchildren, I am honored that I got to know your husband, father and grandfather. I loved hearing his many tales of his lifes adventure. He always spoke of his time in the Military which was his true love. I once read "that one should live evey day as if it's your last and to learn as if you'll live forever". These words did not take much effort to write and for me were just as easy to read, but John McLaughljn truly lived these words.
He was and still is an inspiration to me.
I am sure that he has an interview going on right now with The General

John was a mentor and friend of outstanding character. I appreciate and admire his zeal for knowledge, and he inspired me as a role model. I am grateful he saw fit to trust me with the future of the WWII Book Club, and will not only miss his guidance, but his comraderie. I am fortunate to have been able to take one WWII trip, but will lament the missed opportunity for others. In short, I am so truly, truly, grieved by his loss..
