Obituary of Frank J. Desiderio

Loved His Family Frank J. Desiderio, of Roseland, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 23, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was 89 years old. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family at the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell, NJ on Tuesday, June 27 from 4-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church, 28 Livingston Avenue, Roseland, NJ on Wednesday, June 28 at 11:00 am. Born in Newark, NJ, to Anthony and Olga (Ferrara) Desiderio, Frank was raised in West Orange, NJ, graduated from Bordentown Military Institute and Rutgers University. He married the love of his life, Henrietta "Retta" Caruso and lived in Glen Ridge and West Orange before moving to Roseland in 2007. In Mr. Desiderio's career he was the vice president with the family business, Whippany Paper Board Co., owner/president of Derio Oldsmobile in West Caldwell, NJ and retired as a sales associate at Walter Bauman in West Orange. As a businessman he was active in the community and was the past president of Caldwell Rotary. He was a member of the Forest Hill Field Club in Bloomfield. His passion in life was his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing and traveling around the world. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Retta; devoted children, Paul A., Sr, Edward P. (Michele) and Dori (Ed) Karpinski; a dear brother, Anthony (Mary Ann); 9 adored grandchildren, Dina, Michelle, Paul Jr, Frank, Lauren, Lindsey, Danny, Joey and Alexandra, and 4 cherished great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Ralph and sisters, Rose Zazzarino, Mildred Viola and Rachel Kamand. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank's memory to the Roseland First Aid Squad or St. Jude Children's Hospital would be appreciated.
