Obituary of Paul Hudson Vanderhoof

Paul Hudson Vanderhoof Lifelong Caldwell Resident Paul Hudson Vanderhoof, 67, of Caldwell, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at home following a long battle with cancer. The memorial visitation will be held in the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell, NJ 07006 on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 2-4 pm followed by Memorial Service at 4:00 pm in the funeral home. To extend a condolence or share a memory, please visit www.codeyjonesfh.com. Born in Warren, PA, Paul was the son of Hudson and Marian (Betcher) Vanderhoof. He was a lifelong resident of Caldwell and proud of his family roots with the Vanderhoof and Crane families. Paul was a graduate of James Caldwell High School, Trinidad Jr. College, CO and Virginia Commonwealth University, where he played defensive end on the football team. Following his return to Caldwell he established Ace Heating & Air Conditioning, which has served the West Essex area for more than 30 years. Paul coached the Caldwell Cardinals youth football team in the 1970s, and served as athletic trainer at both James Caldwell and West Essex High Schools, and was a volunteer with the West Essex First Aid Squad from 1970-1981. Surviving are his beloved wife, Catherine (Turner); loving daughters, Cortney Hooper and her husband, Darrell and Amy Clark and her husband, David; cherished grandchildren, Maggie, Katie, AJ and Geoffrey; also his rescue bulldog, Mike, and a wide circle of loving friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Saint Barnabas Medical Center or the American Cancer Society.
