Martha Monisera Distinguished Senior Citizen Martha Monisera (nee Palmese), of Caldwell, NJ, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2014 with her family by her side. She was 97 years old. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, 219 Bloomfield Ave., Caldwell on Fri., Feb. 28th at 11:00am. The interment will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair, NJ. Arrangements are in the trusted care of the Codey & Jones Funeral Home of Caldwell. To extend condolences or share a memory, please visit codeyjonesfh.com. Martha was born in Brooklyn, NY. She lived in Montclair and Nutley before moving to Caldwell in 1980. For many years she was a tax consultant / manager with HR Block in Nutley. Mrs. Monisera was a founder and active volunteer in the VITA Program of Essex County and active in local Senior Citizens Clubs. She received the award for outstanding service & dedication to senior citizens organizations in 1987. A devout Catholic she was also a lecture at Marion Manor for the weekly mass. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael in 1985. Surviving are her devoted daughters, Anne Moffitt, of Scotch Plains, NJ and Judy Martin, of West Orange, NJ; 5 loving grandchildren Billy & Christopher Moffitt, Kelly Moffitt Boyle, Dawn Polito D'Onofrio and Michael Martin; also 8 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org) or the West Essex First Aid Squad, PO Box 662, West Caldwell, NJ 07007-0662 would be greatly appreciated.
