Obituary of Doris P. Brixner

Doris P. Brixner Devoted Wife and Mother Doris P. Brixner, of West Caldwell, NJ, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Cranes Mill, West Caldwell. She was 87 years old. Family and friends are welcome to visit at the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave., Caldwell, NJ 07006 (973-226-6696) on Tue., March 11th from 5-8pm. Services will be held in the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell, 326 Bloomfield Ave., Caldwell on Wed., March 12th at 11:00am. The interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Caldwell. Doris was born in Newark, NJ to her parents the late Walter, Sr. and Mildred Perry. She was raised in Irvington. She graduated from Irvington High School where she played trumpet in the Marching Band and bass fiddle in the Concert Band. Her first job was with Prudential Insurance where she was responsible for logging the bombing runs for the Army Air Corps during WWII. She continued her education and graduated from the School of Fine Arts at Syracuse University. Early in her life Mrs. Brixner was an art teacher with schools in Boonville, NY and later at Jonathan Dayton High School in Springfield, NJ. After teaching for several years she decided to stay at home raise her son, Wally, and care for her family. Doris was a member of the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell. She also enjoyed reading, bridge and doing puzzles. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Wallace C. Brixner, Sr. and her dear brother Walter H. Perry, Jr. Surviving are her devoted son, Wallace C. Brixner, Jr., a loving sister in law, Marcia Perry and 3 nephews, Walter H., III, George and Edward Perry.
