Robert James Lockward, Sr., of Hope, NJ, formerly of Caldwell, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018.
Born in Glen Ridge, NJ to Lewis G., II and Isabelle Lockward, Bob was raised in Essex Fells, NJ and in Light House Point, FL. Since the family owned Sunnyfield Pool in West Caldwell they would spend summers in the NJ and winters in FL. Bob excelled in football and played his first 2 years at Grover Cleveland High School finishing his junior and senior years at Pompano Beach H.S after he played semi-pro ball with the Fort Lauderdale Tigers.
Bob married Noreen Woods and together they raised their family of 4 boys in Caldwell. He was active in the community; coaching Chargers Football, a Volunteer Caldwell Fireman in the 60's & 70's and serving on the Caldwell / West Caldwell Board of Education in the 1980's. Some of his favorite times were spent watching his sons wrestle and play football.
Mr. Lockward owned Short Stop Liquors & Convenience Store in Caldwell for many years. For the past several years he and his wife, Noreen, have owned Black Pony Antiques in Lafayette, NJ.
Spending time with family was paramount in Bob's life especially on the waters of Lake Hopatcong where you could find him on one of his several restored Chris-Craft boats.
Surviving are his wife, Noreen (Woods); sons, Robert, Jr. (Susan), William, Bart (Elizabeth) and Brett (Sandee); grandchildren, Rebecca, Cassandra. Bryan, Kelly and Anna; brother, Lewis G. Lockward, III (Diane). In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Nancy Teepe.

Bob only lived for 76 years…but they were an awesome 76 years!!
