Norberto J. Palleroni, PhD., of North Caldwell, NJ, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018. He was 95 years old.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to his parents, Jose and Maria, Norberto received his PhD in 1947 from the University of Buenos Aires. First arriving in the 1950's thanks to the support of the Guggenheim Foundation, he worked in collaboration with Roger Stanier and Michael Doudoroff where they conducted fundamental research into the genus Pseudomonas, a research collaboration that lasted almost 20 years. Professor Palleroni's research in this area and with other bacteria pioneered new approaches in Microbiology and in recognition of his pioneering work several bacterial species and a genus have been named in Norberto Palleroni's honor.

Work with Research Division of Hoffmann-LaRouche in Nutley, NJ bought him East in the 1970's and led to a long association with the Rutgers University where he collaborated with Max Häggblom, and Bongkeun Song both who remained lifelong friends.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Alicia, in 2015. Surviving are his two sons, Sergio Palleroni, and his wife, Margarette, of Portland, OR and Alberto Palleroni of Reno, NV; grandchildren, Nicolas, Alejandro, Silvia and Emilia Palleroni.
