I was so very sorry to hear of Jean's passing. What an amazing and quietly determined woman! She was a big part of my life growing up in First Church and her influence has affected me throughout my adulthood. I feel it was her encouragement that got me hired as a music teacher in West Orange to begin my 30 year career. She had the faith in me that I lacked at that time and I never forgot it.
Upon retirement, I had intentions of showing my appreciation. I wanted to take her and Marilyn Olson out to lunch and share how much their support that first year at Hazel meant to me (1982). Alas, by the time I went to see Jean, she no longer recognized me. It's a missed opportunity that I will regret forever.
My sympathy for your loss.
Jim Robinson

Jean Louise’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5:28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope.

I’m sorry to learn of Mrs.Lancaster’s passing. She was like a second mother to me when I was growing up in West Orange, where Barbara and I were Hazel Ave friends from 1961-67. I remember Mrs.Lancaster’s kindness, love, Girl Scout meetings, and 7-up Jello molds with great fondness. I wish Barbara, Anne, and their families peace and strength in this difficult time. She was a lovely woman whose memory will always abide for a blessing.
Sending love and warm thoughts from East Brunswick, Joanna

Jean meant so much to me as a friend. I was Marilyn Olsen’s neighbor and through Marilyn I met jean and started to sing with the oratorio society of NJ. We road to rehearsal together . Often she would greet me with toys for my dog. She always cared for others, but the shine in her eyes was for her family, especially the grand children. I have since retired and moved from west orange to Pennsylvania. God bless your family . Celebrate her life.

Mrs Lancaster was a woman of strength and grace. She devoted her life to making our world a better place. As the wife of a minister, a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, volunteer and mentor, Mrs Lancaster was a role model of a life well-lived. It was a blessing to know her. While she is greatly missed she is face to face with her Savior and holding the hand of her beloved husband.
