Lillian C. Fout of West Caldwell passed away peacefully on June 23, 2019. Lillian was born in Ottawa, Canada to Jack and Lillian Van Ness on March 30, 1920. As a young child, the family moved to West Caldwell, New Jersey, where she and her four siblings were raised. Lillian graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in 1938. Lillian was married to Edwin C. Fout in 1940 and moved to Roseland, New Jersey. Lillian was a member of the Roseland Presbyterian Church since 1946, where she taught Sunday school for many years while serving as a Deacon. Lillian was the original dispatcher for the West Essex First Aid Squad. Her father, Jack Van Ness, was one of the founders and first captain of the squad. Calls for the ambulance would come through the family phone on Ravine Avenue in West Caldwell. Lillian worked for Mason and Keller in Roseland before establishing the Pampered Tot in Roseland. Lillian was an elected public official in Roseland, serving as a County Committee member for over twenty years, many of which she was chairman. Her service to Roseland also involved serving on The Roseland Board of Health for 29 years. Lillian is survived by her children Jessie and Larry Bunn, and Edwin and Jodi Fout. Her grandchildren Alan Baldwin (Lindsay), Jonathan Baldwin (Tegan), Katherine Santalla (John), Russell Baldwin (Candice), Jared Fout (Jennifer), and Sarah Pisano (Christopher). She is survived by great grandchildren, as well as her sister Lois Rinaldi and many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at The Roseland Presbyterian Church, 40 Freeman Street, Roseland, NJ 07068 on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 11:00 am. The interment at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Caldwell is private at the request of the family. The family has trusted the Codey & Jones Funeral Home of Caldwell with the care of the arrangements.
