Beloved Wife, Mother & Grandmother

Barbara J. DeBellis peacefully passed away at home on September 14, 2019.

Born in Jersey City, NJ to Attilio and Angela (Capo) Severini, Barbara lived in the Caldwells for 52 years where she became a beloved and active member of the community.

Barbara was a member of many local organizations and one of the founders of the Caldwell Police Athletic League. During her career at the Caldwell Progress, she achieved first place in interpretive writing by the New Jersey Press Association. She then became an editor and continued in that position until her retirement.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 58 years, Paul R. DeBellis, Sr., her five children, Dawn D'Alessandro (Alfred), Lia Kuglin (William), Gail Flores, Paula Sules and Paul R. DeBellis, Jr. (Nicole), adored grandchildren, Michael, Mia, Daniel, Nina, Kyla, Devyn, Peyton, Paul, Peter, Chloe and Mason.  She was predeceased by her son, Gary and son-in-law, John.

Barbara was an avid reader and was dedicated to the youth of the Caldwells, many of whom still posses her handmade heirlooms.  Her love of children and family is her legacy.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 17, 2019 from 3-8 pm at the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell, NJ 07006. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 10:00 am at Notre Dame R.C. Church, 359 Central Avenue, North Caldwell, NJ 07006.
