Obituary of Elsie Murray

Please share a memory of Elsie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elsie Murray, 88, of West Orange, New Jersey, formerly of West Caldwell, New Jersey, peacefully passed away at her home at the Green Hill Retirement Community. Born in Catawissa, Pennsylvania to Simeon and Mary (Galo) Dencavage, she later moved to Belleville, NJ and attended high school there. In 1956 she was married to the love of her life, the late George Francis "Frank" Murray who passed away in 1968 at the age of 44. Elsie raised five remarkable daughters and she was also a grandmother and a great- grandmother. Her proudest achievement was raising a close-knit family, and her greatest happiness came from how much they all enjoy spending time together. She will be remembered for her strength, kindness, patience, and cherished memories of baking, playing, spending time at the pool and beach, and doing crafts with her grandchildren. Services were private at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Caldwell, New Jersey, where she was laid to rest with her husband, Frank. After 51 years they are together once again. Elsie was predeceased by 9 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her devoted daughters and their husbands, Elaine Dickson and Murray Dick, Karen and Wayne Rowe, Kathleen "Kathy" and James Lowe, Diane Murray and the late Doug Paddock, and Linda and Steve Maffei. Also surviving are nine cherished grandchildren: Diane Lowe Furlong (Chris), Jennifer Dickson Fout (Jared), Michael Dickson, Chris Maffei, Katie Maffei, Lauren Maffei, Megan Maffei, Nicholas Paddock and Carolyn Rowe, and three adored great-grandchildren: Graham and Brooke Fout and Kaylee Furlong. The arrangements were in care of the Codey & Jones Funeral Home of Caldwell. Please take a moment to share a note, story, memory, condolence or light a candle in her memory at www.codeyjonesfh.com. In times like these a simple gesture of kindness, perhaps some hope to those who are lost and love to the lonely would be most deeply appreciated by the family.
