Mary Evelina Harriet Watkins Budd, 97, of West Caldwell, NJ, formerly of Caldwell, NJ and Essex Fells, NJ, passed away on April 11, 2020. When we can safely gather, a Memorial Service in celebration of Mary's Life will be held at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 271 Roseland Avenue, Essex Fells, NJ 07021, at a date and time to be announced. The daughter of Frederick and Evelina Wetmore Watkins, Mary was born in Consuelo, San Pedro De Macoris, Dominican Republic, where her father worked as an Engineering Manager. She lived in Caldwell and Essex Fells prior to moving to West Caldwell. During WWII she worked at Curtiss Wright in Caldwell as a 'Cadette', performing aeronautical calculations for propeller design and testing. Later she worked for Bloomingdales, Short Hills in the Credit Department. Mary was an active parishioner of St. Peter's Episcopal Church since the 1930s. She was also a member of the Essex Fells Country Club, and an avid bridge player. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Henry A. Budd, two brothers, Hastings W. Watkins and Frederick H. Watkins, Jr., and a sister, Gretchen Watkins Farrar, her sister-in-law Margaret (Peg) Hamilton Watkins, and her brother-in-law, William W. Farrar. Surviving are her devoted children, Henry A. Budd, Jr., with his wife Gail, and David W. Budd, with his wife Catherine; five grandchildren, Henry, Jeffrey, Stephanie, Joanna, and Lauren; eleven great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Altar Guild of St. Peter's Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
