Obituary of Ann Patricia Oberdick

Ann Patricia "Pat" Oberdick, 92, of Caldwell, NJ, formerly of Livingston, NJ passed away from COVID-19 on Friday, June 26, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Pat was born in Bradley Beach, NJ to Patrick and Anna Nerney. She was married for 56 years to the love of her life, Michael Oberdick and together they raised a family in Vailsburg and Livingston.

She graduated from Our Lady of the Valley High School, Orange in 1945 and worked for NJ Bell. After raising her family, she re-entered the workforce and was a dedicated and valuable employee of Control Instruments Corporation in Fairfield, NJ where she worked until her death. Pat was an active parishioner, volunteer and daily communicant at Sacred Heart Church in Vailsburg, St. Raphael's in Livingston, and St. Aloysius in Caldwell. In addition to her love of the Lord, Pat was an avid reader, loved to garden, take long walks, travel the world and spend time at the beach with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Michael and her siblings, Maryellen, Joseph and William Nerney.

Surviving are her devoted daughters and their husbands, Maryanne and Joseph Murano, Patricia and Chip Gardner; loving sisters, Clare Ennis and Frances Schaeffer; eight cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Kerry Murano-Guzman (Evan), Katie Moniello (Chris), Tim Gardner, Kristie Coiro (Chris), Bridget Cohen (Chad), Korey Murano, Kelly Gardner, Patrick Gardner and ten adored great grandchildren – plus one on the way and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Known as "Marnie" by her grandchildren, Pat will be remembered for her sweet smile, home-made prayer books, Christmas dinners, angel collection and "give me a hug" requests.

Thank you to the staff at St. Barnabas Hospital and Care One Whippany for the loving care you provided and the countless prayers from our dear family and friends.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the celebration of Pat's life will be private. Donations can be made in her memory to St. Aloysius Church, Caldwell or your favorite charity.
