Longtime West Caldwell Resident, Patriarch and Founder of Family Business
Paul K. Stille, one of West Caldwell’s friendliest contractors, passed away at home on Monday, July 20, 2020 with his loving family at his side. His life spanned almost 86 years full of projects, stories and family.

Paul was born in Orange and was the son of Francis and Marjorie (Knight) Stille. He met and then married Barbara Toll in 1958 and together they raised their family in West Caldwell.
He graduated from Lehigh University and earned a Master’s degree from Montclair State University. He taught industrial arts in various schools for 30 years and subsequently founded the family business, Stille & Sons of Caldwell, NJ.
Paul was proud to work alongside his sons every day in his contracting business. He was the former president of the E. Hanover Township Teachers Assoc., and founder of the West Essex Handicap Horseshoe Pitchers Club for 30 years.
He loved cabinetmaking, woodworking, crafting “whirligigs” and repairing just about anything. He was also a life-long Yankees and Seton Hall Basketball Fan.
His attention to detail and ability to think “outside the box” was a gift he shared with his sons and clients. Humor and true friendship were gifts he shared abundantly over his lifetime.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara; devoted children and their spouses: James Stille (Gina), Lisa Garrity (Francis), Thomas Stille (Diane), Peter Stille (Lisbeth); adored grandchildren, Thomas (T.J.) Stille, Christine (Garrity) Peliotis, Dianna Stille, James Stille, Matthew Garrity, Marissa Stille and Gemma Stille.
