Condolences to the Crotty family. I have known Sheila since 1988 while working at the Division of Law. She was very helpful to me during my journey as an adult college student. May G-d bless her soul and bless the family. Charles and Tara Harris.

My condolences to Sheila's friends and family. She was a class act who trained and mentored many of us during our early years at DYFS. Sheila was stern and loving at the same time. She knew what we needed to know and imparted that knowledge in a way few others could. I will always remember her laugh, her jokes and her unwavering love the nieces and nephews. Oh, and the late nights finding the judge on call! May Sheila rest in peace.

I am heartbroken. Through her work and her mentoring of others, Sheila saved the lives and well-being of thousands of children. But I love her best for being my friend. She inspired hundreds of people. I grew up wanting to be a child advocate, and when I met Sheila, I found the role model I longed for. She stood by me in court (and in her kitchen when late night emergent appeals were required!), and in all ways since we met in 1983. Her laughter will ring in my heart as long as I live. She was generous beyond description. She loved without expectation. There are so many moments I will hold dear as memories, but for now I just miss her. Sheila spoke so often of her sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews and I wish them comfort in this time of grief.

Sheila was one of a kind. She fought tirelessly for the protection of children. She was the unofficial matriarch of the DYFS section of the AG's office for many, many years and was always there to lend a listening ear and support. Sheila would never mince words, you always knew what she was thinking, and she said it so well. She loved her family dearly and always talked with such pride about her nieces and nephews. She kept an upbeat attitude about her life even when she was dealing with health issues. I spoke to her at length in March right before the State closed down. She was working on organizing a night out with her DAG friends. I think that once it is safe, that all of the DAG crew should have a "Vinny's" night in her honor and memory. Rest in Peace Sheila. You will be missed.

Dear Maggie and Allan:
We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Sheila. I know you were very close and spoke daily.
You were her alarm clock for her dialysis treatments and many, many more things.
I know she will be deeply missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you now and throughout the days ahead.
If there is anything we can do, please ask!
With Sincerest Sympathy,
Bob and Nancy Carlsen

My condolences to the Crotty family. I worked with Sheila when I was a brand new DAG under Sheila’s supervision in 1995. She taught me so much about the child welfare practice that I continue to practice today. We also had wonderful times as a work family outside of the office, and we were supposed to have another one recently, until Covid cancelled those plans. I’ll never forget so many fantastic memories of Sheila, and may her memory continue to be a blessing to all!

I send my love and condolences to Shella's family and friends who love her dearly. I worked with her as young, inexperienced social worker at DYFS. She was a great teacher and mentor. I am pretty sure I would not have lasted 31 years at DYF if it not been for Sheila. She was tough but compassionate I remember her working with me on weekends to prep for trials. She was a good friend to many. I remember the love ans support she gave to her friend, Joan O'Brian durning her long battle with cancer. She spoke with love of her family, especially her nieces and nephews who meant so much to her. What I will always remember is her smile and infectious laugh. She told the best jokes (many off color).
I know Sheila is at peace and hope her family finds peace in knowing that.
