Obituary of Edna C. Lawshe

Please share a memory of Edna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edna C. Lawshe lived a remarkable 96 years. She passed peacefully on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Crane's Mill in West Caldwell, NJ, her home since 2004. She is now enjoying a heavenly reunion with family and friends. Born in Los Angeles, CA to David and Gertrude McNeil, Edna was a longtime resident of Caldwell, NJ. She was a neighbor of Welshman Court – a neighborhood where everyone was family. Edna married the love of her life, Harvey Lawshe. After he passed in 1978, she raised her three sons with great admiration. Perhaps her strength was found in her faith and devotion to the First Presbyterian Church at Caldwell…or because she was a remarkable person and mother! Edna worked in admissions at St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston and Theresa Grotta in West Orange for many years. She was a member of the Women's Fellowship at the First Presbyterian Church and ran the Gift Shop at Crane's Mill for years. In addition to her husband, Harvey, she was predeceased by her son, Chief Harvey Lawshe, Ret. Caldwell PD; and her sisters, Lillian Pushman and Helen Ferguson. Surviving to keep that spirit alive are her devoted children, Gordon & Lynore Lawshe; Jeff and Lori Lawshe; loving daughter-in-law, Barbara Lawshe & her fiancé, Matthew Watkins; loving sister-in-law Rosalind Lawshe Gantz; cherished grandchildren, Maureen; Jessica Jackson and husband Neil; Evan; Brian and wife Jess; Michael and wife Alyscia; Derek; Christopher & his fiancée Sarah; and Maggie; and her adored great grandchildren, Christian, Tyler and Theo. When we can all safely travel and gather, a Memorial Service will be announced. The services are trusted with the Codey & Jones Funeral Home of Caldwell. Please share a word or condolence with the family at www.codeyjonesfh.com. In lieu of flowers, donations to West Essex First Aid Squad, Inc., PO Box 662, West Caldwell, NJ 07007-0662 or Caldwell Gridiron Club, 19 Gray St, West Caldwell, NJ 07006 would be appreciated.
