Obituary of Edward L. O'Connor

Edward L. O'Connor, 77, of West Orange, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.

Edward was born in Orange in February 1946 to Francis J. and Florence (Fricke) O'Connor and was a resident of the Oranges his whole life. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. Edward became a master plumber with Local 24 for many years and worked for the Newark Housing Authority before retiring in April 2010.

Edward was an avid NY Giants fan and also enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting. Summers meant being down the shore at his home in Lavallette. Family and friends were dear to him and he loved having them over for a few drinks and to beguile them with his wonderful storytelling. Time spent with his grandchildren was priceless.

Predeceased by his beloved wife, Linda (Polvere) and their son, Michael; his brother Frank O'Connor and his wife, Janet; his sister Patricia McCole and her husband, Dennis; Edward is survived by his cherished daughter, Abbie Kelley and her husband, Jeremy; his adored grandchildren, Patrick, Colin and Mackenzie; his brother, Thomas O'Connor and his wife, Patricia; his sisters, Rosemary Sayers and her husband, Jack; Nancy Allonardo and her husband, Anthony; and his many nieces and nephews.

Please join the family on Thursday, July 27th from 5:00 to 7:00pm for visitation at Codey Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave, Caldwell. Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery will be Friday, July 28th at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Edward's memory to Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter in East Hanover would be appreciated.
