Rose Marie McGovern of Roseland, NJ, formerly of Essex Fells, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023.

Born in Ridgeway, PA to Frank and Anna (Kokoska) Glasl in December 1936, Rose Marie graduated from Cameron County High School in Emporium PA.

Rose Marie met John M. McGovern in Emporium, when John was on assignment there. They fell in love, and she decided to follow John to New York. They were married in 1960 in Queens, NY and went on to honeymoon in Puerto Rico.

They lived in Cedar Grove before moving to Essex Fells in 1974. After 26 years, Rose Marie moved to Roseland.  She went on to become an accomplished  legal secretary and worked for Hartford Insurance in Roseland for many years.

Rose Marie loved to spend time with her family, friends and church groups. She loved holiday get-togethers, Italian food, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Jerry Seinfeld’s comedy and the Radio City Christmas show.

Predeceased by her beloved husband, John, in 2001, Rose Marie is survived by her three children, Michael McGovern, John McGovern and Mary McGovern, and their respective spouses, Karen Winslow, Mark Perry and Robert Strait; as well as her grandchildren, Anna McGovern and her spouse, Brian Justie; and Karen Elisa McGovern.

Visitation with her family will be Sunday, December 10th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Codey Funeral Home of Caldwell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 11th at 10:30am in St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Caldwell, followed by interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
