Obituary of Hon. Judge Joseph C. Cassini III
Hon. Judge Joseph C Cassini III, 73, of West Orange, NJ, passed away on January 19, 2024. Born on November 28, 1950, in Orange, NJ, Joseph was the son of the late Ann Cassini and Joseph Cassini Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Margie, their daughter Caroline, and her husband Jakob Greisen.
Judge Cassini was a distinguished individual who dedicated 33 years of his life to serving as a Judge in New Jersey, including 20 years in the state's Superior Court. Throughout his career, he presided over numerous noteworthy cases, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to justice and fairness.
Cassini was enthusiastic, too, for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. He was a three-time graduate of the university, earning his BA in 1972, before receiving an MBA and Juris Doctorate in 1976. In 2012, he and his wife, Margie, established an endowment to support loan repayment assistance for graduates of the Notre Dame Law School. His higher education provided a solid foundation for his successful career in the legal field.
Despite the demanding nature of his profession, Joseph found solace in his passion for collector cars, viewing them as an escape from the rigors of the job. He was a true connoisseur and a fixture of the collector car hobby, always eager to share his enthusiasm with others. His love for automobiles was particularly evident during his participation in the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, where he proudly showcased his vehicles no less than 24 times, winning the coveted Best of Show Award twice.
The family invites friends and loved ones to pay their respects at the wake on Thursday, January 25th from 3pm to 7pm at the Codey Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave, Caldwell, NJ. Funeral services will be conducted the following day, Friday, January 26th at 10am, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1 Eagle Rock Ave, West Orange, NJ. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, charitable donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his memory.
