Raymond Joseph Ferrera, 95, a long-time resident of West Caldwell, NJ, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2024, with family by his side.

Raymond was born in Montclair to Louis and Aurelia (Guiffra) Ferrera. He married Marie Spadone in 1952 after meeting on a blind date and moved to West Caldwell in 1963, residing on Ravine Avenue for 60 years.

Raymond served his country during the Korean War. He was a pharmacy technician, working at area pharmacies until retiring only 15 years ago - he had a tremendous work ethic. In his spare time, he was an incredible sports fan. During the nice weather you would find him in the backyard with a Budweiser and his radio, listening to the Yankees game, or having a cookout for the family. Once autumn set in, it was Sundays with the NY Giants and Marie’s macaroni and meatballs simmering on the stove.

Raymond was also an avid reader – especially murder mysteries. He preferred the simple joys of life – his family and his faith. The sun rose and set on his cherished grandchildren. He was a very kind man and will be missed by all who knew him.

Raymond was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marie; and his brother, Louis Ferrera, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Teresa L. Cerruti; his sons, Raymond M., Louis J. (Carol), and Stephen (Griselda) Ferrera; his grandchildren, Christina, Jacqueline, Sam, Denali, Myles, Sophia, and Elliot; and many caring relatives, friends and neighbors.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, November 22nd from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Codey Funeral Home of Caldwell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 23rd at 9:30 AM in St. Aloysius R.C. Church in Caldwell, followed by interment at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
