BERNARD J. MANNEY, M.D. CALDWELL PHYSICIAN Bernard "Bud" J. Manney, M.D., 73, of Caldwell, NJ, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015 with his family by his side. Services to celebrate his life begin with visitation at the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell on Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 2 – 6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, 219 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell on Monday, May 4, 2015 11:00 am. The interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Caldwell. Born in Passaic, NJ to his parents, Bernard and Constance Manney. Bud was raised in Passaic. Upon graduation from Seton Hall Prepatory he joined the US Navy. For four years he served as a Medical Corpsman, was the Honorman of his company upon graduation and received the naval commendation during Bay of Pigs Campaign. Bud received his undergraduate degree from Susquehanna University in 1967, and his Medical Degree from the University of Rome, Italy in 1973. Dr. Manney was a dedicated physician for 40 years with a private practice in Caldwell. He was the Chief Resident at St. Michaels Hospital in Newark, and the Chief of Staff / Board at Montclair Community Hospital. His joy of life will be remembered in his medical practice, at the ocean either sailing or walking along the shore, wine making, baking biscotti and most especially spending time with family and friends. Surviving are his devoted children and their spouses, Jessica and Jon Ryan, Bernard Maniscalco and Hannah Geier, Elizabeth and Charles Gibson, Jr.; cherished grandson, Charles William "Will"; dear sister, Grace Kern and brother, Joseph Manney; loving partner, Maureen VanNess and her sons, James and Brian; his true friend and trusted office manager, Sue LaFlesh, and a large family of cherished people dear to his heart. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association or to the West Essex First Aid Squad, would be appreciated.
