Suresh, the only doctor who could amalgamate the humour of a stand-up comedian with the unwavering dedication of a surgeon. The memory will always be there - waking up from surgery to find my hand snugly wrapped in a friend's palm, all thanks to him. It seems even Heaven needed an excellent physician; undoubtedly they're chuckling amidst their check-ups now! Farewell, Dr. Suresh.

I didn’t know Dr Thani for to long but in that short period of time I knew he was a kind and non bias person. I went to him as a same sex couple trying to conceive and he did not hesitate or made me feel uncomfortable he welcomed me and my spouse to his office. Thanks to dr thani he helped make our wish come true the very first attempt we were blessed with a baby boy and We will always be grateful for his service. I am completely saddened for his lost. I am so sad to read my favorite Doctor has passed away. Dr. Thani was my OB GYN since 1984.
I’d move away and come back years later and he would always take me as a patient.
Dr. Thani was and always will be my absolute favorite doctor. I wish I had the chance to tell him Thank You!

I am just so heart broken to read about Dr. Thani passing. I was looking online for his office number to make my yearly appointment to find his obituary. The best gynecologist ever. I would drive over an hour to see Dr Thani I would never have changed my doctor even when I moved over an hour away. He delivered my son who is 32 yrs old I even recommended my daughter in law to Dr. Thani and because of him I have a beautiful grandson. Dr. Thani will surely be missed. My deepest condolences to his family.

I am also very shocked. He did my first ever robotic laparoscopy surgery in Beth Israel and oh what a gentle soul. I needed him for a sister of mine struggling with fibroids as well and when I googled his name the obituary popped up. My whole night is ruined. May his gentle soul Rest In Peace.

Continuing to think of and pray for Dr. Thani's family. Today would have been my son's 32nd birthday. Dr. Thani delivered him. Unfortunately he was several months early and did not survive. Dr. Thani took such good care of and fought so hard for both of us. I can never think of my son and not think of him. And though I'm very sad today mourning my son, I cannot help but remember and mourn Dr. Thani today as well. I hope that his family is somehow adjusting to life without him. Rest in heaven.

I called today to make an appointment with Dr. Thani and was told "unfortunately Dr. Thani died in December." My response was "What????" I was on the phone for a good three minutes with the receptionist trying to absorb what I had just heard. I know that death is sure but I still cannot believe that I will never see Dr. Thani again.
I was introduced to Dr. Thani in 2001 when I was expecting my one and only child. He was the most caring, compassionate, and patient doctor I have known. I had a long and difficult labor and had no idea that the doctors at the hospital were preparing to give me an emergency C-Section. It was later after when I spoke with Dr. Thani that he told me that he was at the hospital and he told the doctors that they were not going to give me a C-Section against my wishes. I was not even aware that Dr. Thani was at my bedside during the birth of my child. This is the kind of person Dr. Thani was. He was my personal angel. I am still in disbelief that he is no longer here. May he receive a star in his crown for every life that he so passionately touched. May his soul Rest In Eternal Peace and may God grant his family peace, comfort and understanding as they mourn the loss of such a gentle, kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

I was a patient of Dr. Thani for many years. I was due to have a hysterectomy back in Oct of 1998. I went for all my test, and when when the test results came back, he said to me Teresa, your not having a hysterectomy, you're having a baby.
He was more excited than I was, because it took me 7 years.
Dr Thani, you will forever be in my heart.

As a patient of Dr. Thandi, I am just finding out about his passing. I had no idea because it was not my time to schedule my annual Pap. I am sorely sorry for this man's passing. I remember the first time I saw Dr. Thani on the maternity floor @St Barnabas hospital, over 25 years ago.
It was crazy busy, Dr. Thani was calm, taking excellent care of his patients.
For the past 18yrs, he took excellent care of me, as one of his many patients.
When my husband passed away, a few years ago, he was very supportive and kind to our family.
I saw him last year, he took me inside his office and begged me to take care of myself, because he
didn’t recognized that it was me. His words were, your husband would not want to see you like this, get your smile back.
I walked out that office with a smile. Waved goodbye to Dr. Thani. I didn’t know that was the last time that I would see him.

Dr. Thani, I heard of the sad news 2 days ago. For some reason, I kept thinking about you for the past couple of months. I've always received a follow up for my annual by December of each year, and when I did not receive one this past December, I said to myself, it must be because of the COVID-19 Pandemic, or could it be you have retired. Then, one of my girlfriend called me, 2 days ago, and said, did you know Dr. Thani passed? I said, what? Sad to say, I looked you up online, and to my sadness, it was true. Thank you for the past 30 yrs. You have been a loving and caring OB/GYN. Thank you for performing my past 2 surgeries with the utmost care and compassion. You were a Master in your Profession. I will always remember that warm, caring and personable relationship you had not just with me, but with all your patients. I will always remember that smile, the smile that will be forever in my heart. Your work on earth was completed, and even though our weary eyes cannot see. God knows best! So, Peaceful Journey DOC... My sincerest condolences to the family of Dr. Thani. He was the BEST OB/GYN. His knowledge and compassion for his patients showed at all times. I was referred to him by a friend who had been a long time patient. I was previously told that I'd never have children. Upon our first meeting, Dr. T, took the time to do a thorough health history and really listened to my concerns. He assured me that I would bear a child, after having a few procedures, I successfully became pregnant, a short time later. When I confirmed the pregnancy at his office , he was just as excited as I was. He promised that he'd see me through my first trimester, before transferring me to a colleague, for continuation of OB care/delivery. I shared his expertise with anyone who would listen, and jokingly called him " the baby whisperer". If you wanted to conceive. Dr. Thani was the MD to see.. My son is now a healthy 14 year old young man. He is my miracle baby!!
I thank God for Dr. Thani..
May he rest in eternal peace .
He will NEVER be forgotten....

Dr. Thani was truly a "light unto this world". Literally, were it not for his superior skills, I would have lost my first-born, Sydney. Dr. Thani diagnosed my incompetent cervix before I became pregnant. He was so patient and supportive, that one day when I felt "funny", I called him, embarrassed because there was no pain or anything. He told me I had done correctly and to come in. Sure enough, my cervix had started dilating and he had me admitted to Beth Israel and performed a Cerclage. Sydney is now 27 and has her Master's degree and is working in DC and applying to PHD programs. I thought I had lost my second child. I actually bought the tissue in that had passed. Dr. Thani confirmed it was my baby and offered his condolences. He began to examine me to see if he needed to do a D&C and all of a sudden exclaimed: "Lori, there's a baby in there!" My husband and Sydney came into the exam room and sure enough, there was Cory, jumping up and down. Sydney was so happy. Cory is now 24 and is a Harvard graduate and is currently in medical school. My youngest, Kelsey, well, let me back up a little. Dr. Thani helped me become pregnant with my other two by diagnosing my hormonal imbalance and treating me accordingly. Over 40, Kelsey just happened! During my first visit with Dr. Thani, we laughed and Dr. Thani asked me "Lori, how did you do this?". He also shook his head at me when he asked me when my last period was and I could not tell him. Kelsey is 18 and playing basketball for Georgetown University. I only describe my children's accomplishments because, truly, were it not for Dr. Thani, they would not be in this world contributing as the same servant leader he truly was. Dr. Thani was a pioneer, as far as I am concerned, with patient relationships.
He allowed me to stay conscious with the cesarean birth of my firstborn; enabled my second born to be VBAC; advocated for me to "room in" with my babies; and allowed my older two to be present for the birth of my third. Dr. Thani was a gentle, brilliant, empathetic man. He sincerely mourned my miscarriages and celebrated my births. When I squirmed receiving my epidural, he stopped washing his hands, and came over to me and held mine. He had thousands of patients, but made me feel as though I were his only one - that was one of his gifts - to see each patient as the individuals they were. I remember him chastising me for drinking an herb that purported to help with contractions. He told me that being from Barbados, he had experience with and was respectful of the power of herbs and that Western medicine was not knowledgeable or appreciative of herbal science. That conversation was the impetus of a life-long learning journey for me, in studying holistic medicine. I am so very thankful to Dr. Thani for sharing his intellect, professional skills, gentleness and humanity with me and the world. Sleep well, Dr. Thani. My heart is truly broken upon hearing of Dr. Thani’s passing. Dr. Thani was an amazing doctor. He delivered my only child who is now 18 years old. I love telling the story about how I told Dr Thani I don’t want a c-section I wanted a natural birth. My daughter was in distress and I had to have a c-section. I was so scared and my husband couldn’t accompany me to get my epidural and Dr Thani not only stayed with me but came over hugged me and held my hand throughout the whole procedure. That gesture touched my heart forever. He was a compassionate, caring and kind doctor who knew his craft.
I send my deepest condolences to the Thani family. We mourning with you. Please take comfort from the words found in the holy writings at Isiah 25:8 “He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces.”We look forward to the fulfillment of this wonderful promise where the enemy death will be eradicated forever. I was so saddened to hear of the loss of Dr. Thani. He had been my doctor for over 30 years. He delivered my son who would have been 32 this year had he lived. There's too much history to go into. But Dr. Thani was truly more than just a doctor to me. I went through SO much with him, including several surgeries and the loss of three babies. I remember once when I needed to have a procedure done and rather than have me see another physician since he was going to be out of town, he scheduled it for 8 pm. before he left so that he could perform the procedure himself. That is just a small example of the type of physician he was. It literally brought me to tears when I was told of his passing. My sister had called the office to make an appointment and was told that he had passed away. She, my mother and I send our deepest and heartfelt condolences to his family. May he forever rest in peace and may his memory always be a blessing.

My condolences to the Family.. I was at Dr. Thani Office 4 days before he died. Dr. Thani has been my Doctor for the past 24 years. He delivered my two kids. Dr. Thani Was the best Doctor in world. Dr. Thani was always about saving lives not what kind of insurance do you have or how much money. I'm still crying hoping its a dream that my Doctor is still alive. When I was in labor with my daughter, I was so scared young and confused. Dr. Thani spoke to me like I was his daughte. He made me feel comfortable. We lost the best doctor in the world. Having a good and smart doctor is a blessing. I can never step my feet at the office anymore. RIP Dr. Thani you will be miss..

Hello Anita, please accept our heartfelt sympathies and condolences for your loss. Dr. Thani was a very nice, gentle and caring person. I first met him in 1988 and he helped me through my high risk pregnancy. Since then we became good friends with you and the doctor. It is very sad that he is not among us anymore, but he is a shining star watching over you from above. We moved to Los Angeles four years ago and were able to zoom into this morning’s ceremony. May God rest his soul in peace and give you and your family the strength to accept his will. Everything happens for a reason. Take care, God bless all of you. Will try and call you soon. I first met Dr. Suresh Thani in 1978 when he became a resident doctor in OB-GYN at Beth Israel Hospital. I was his teacher back then and became his good friend and colleague when he finished his training. His pursuit and mastery of the latest surgical techniques then led to him becoming MY teacher as the years went by.
To Anita and family-please accept my deepest sympathy for your great loss.
